Raleigh Johnson Spell-checking Add-in for Microsoft Visual Studio
Raleigh Johnson, Technical Engagement Engineer

As most developers know, spelling errors within an application can be very problematic and, sometimes, even embarrassing. To solve this problem in the past, many developers were forced to perform this task manually or to export and import files into Microsoft Word or a similar application, both of which were very inconvenient.
Those days are over, thanks to IntelliSpell from ComponentOne, allowing .NET developers to focus more attention on the functionality and performance of their project, rather than the spelling errors within it. IntelliSpell works much like the all-so-familiar Spell-check feature of Microsoft Word, but brings this functionality to Visual Studio 2005, 2008, and soon 2010. Find out how to use IntelliSpell, set options, customize your dictionary, and more. Read the full article.

Studio Enterprise 2009 v2: Just Released

Studio Enterprise 2009 v2 ComponentOne Studio Enterprise 2009 v2 release offers new UI controls, features, and benefits.

The Studio for ASP.NET suite grows even more with 5 new ASP.NET AJAX controls and the introduction of Foxy Visual Studio Designer, a Web-based skin customization tool. UI controls like the context-sensitive ToolTips (C1Tooltip) and an editable text

box with an auto-searchable drop-down list (C1ComboBox) improve the UX. The C1FormDecorator control makes styling simple elements like buttons or checkboxes on your Web apps a snap. Just add the C1FormDecorator control to your Web page and go.

In response to your feedback, Studio for WinForms brings enhancements to popular components. Excel for.NET users can now specify a formula for a cell with the new XLCell.Formula property. SpellChecker for WinForms users can now use the C1SpellChecker control to spell-check controls that derive from the WebBrowser class.

Major additions have been made to Studio for Silverlight. All controls have been built on the new Silverlight 3 Framework. This award-winning suite now has over 40 controls with the addition of Scheduler and Media player controls as well as a Reflector object.

The expansion of Studio for WPF debuts 7 new controls, from gauge controls which make data display visually appealing to input controls with masks and editors. As the Studio for Silverlight control suite grows, so will the number of controls for the WPF platform as the Silverlight 3 controls will be ported to WPF.

New Website Launched

After more than a year of work, ComponentOne has launched its new and improved Website. The new design features simplified navigation, easier access to product information, and new branding. The new site also is written in the voice of developers to make it much more reader-friendly.

Chris Bannon, lead Web developer, has been heading the project. Bannon stated, "After studying feedback from all aspects of our visitors we built a concept of a perfect site. With a little AJAX, CSS, and a lot of love we have just about pulled it off. Not to mention how easy our own dev tools made it to build." (Studio for ASP.NET, Studio for iPhone, Studio for Silverlight, and IntelliSpell)

This undertaking has been a collaboration by a full Web team. This effort includes representatives from Development, Design, and Marketing and Communications. We hope you enjoy the new site as much as we do!
