ComponentOne MultiPage for ASP.NET

Gustavo Eydelsteyn Looking at the Big Picture
Gustavo Eydelsteyn, Co-founder

Gandhi once stated, "No culture can live if it attempts to be exclusive." While other companies focus solely on developing one platform or product, ComponentOne realizes that there is no one product or platform that satisfies the needs of every developer and this is why we are committed to offering the most extensive development suite available.

ComponentOne Studio Enterprise includes seven different suites of development controls: Studio for WinForms, Studio for WPF, Studio for ASP.NET, Studio for Silverlight, Studio for iPhone, Studio for Mobile, and Studio for ActiveX. While the majority of developers tend to focus on only one or two platforms, ComponentOne Studio Enterprise has you prepared for the unexpected. With ComponentOne Studio Enterprise, you are covered; there is no need to rush out and find a suite of missing controls for a project that requires you to work on a new platform.

In addition to the seven development suites, Studio Enterprise also includes an add-in spellchecker, ComponentOne IntelliSpell. This add-in helps developers avoid embarrassing spelling errors in their comments, strings, HTML, XML, resources, and general text. Since it is an add-in it can be used by any .NET developer. Regardless of how exclusive you think you are to one platform, take a step back and look at everything Studio Enterprise has to offer. You'll reap the benefits.

Introducing ComponentOne LiveLinq

If you are a LINQ user, then you have to check out the new LiveLinq class library. It augments the functionality of LINQ in two related directions:
  • It makes LINQ faster
  • LiveLinq uses indexing and other optimizations to speed up LINQ queries in memory. Speed gains can be hundreds and even thousands of times on queries with high selectivity conditions. Typical/average gains are significant, a 10-50 times speedup can be considered typical.

  • It adds support for live views to LINQ
  • Live view is a LINQ query result that is kept constantly up-to-date without re-populating it every time its base data changes. This makes LiveLinq extremely useful in common data-binding scenarios where objects are edited and may be filtered in or out of views, have their associated subtotals updated and so on. Using an old jargon, one could say that LINQ queries correspond to snapshots, while LiveLinq view correspond to dynasets. Since live views automatically react to changes, they greatly widen the sphere of declarative programming, not only in data binding and GUI but in many other programming scenarios as well.
